Licensed WA Electrical Contractor · EC9674
Commercial Electrician in Perth's North: Offices, Retail, Strata & Light Industrial
One licensed commercial electrician for your fit-outs, maintenance, compliance testing and repairs across Joondalup and the northern corridor. Fixed prices quoted upfront, work scheduled around your trading hours, and paperwork done properly.
For business & strata
One Commercial Electrician for the Whole Property
Most businesses end up juggling separate contractors for fit-out work, repairs, test and tag, and emergency light testing. Four invoices, four schedules, and nobody with the full picture of the site's electrical state. When something trips at 8am on a trading day, none of them owns the problem.
JEC works as the single commercial electrician for businesses, landlords and strata managers in Joondalup and the northern corridor. Glen quotes each job at a fixed price, keeps records of what's been installed and tested at your site, and schedules disruptive work outside your trading hours where the job allows. When something does go wrong, you're calling a sparky who already knows your board.

Why JEC
Why Joondalup Businesses Use JEC
Fixed prices, not open-ended hourly billing
Every job is scoped and priced in writing before work starts. Variations only happen if the scope changes, and they are priced before the work is done, not discovered on the invoice.
The same licensed sparky every time
JEC is family-owned and Glen has 25+ years on the tools. The electrician who quotes your site is the one who works on it and the one who picks up the phone next time.
Paperwork that protects you
Compliance certificates, test records and tagged equipment logs, done properly and kept on file. If an insurer, auditor or WorkSafe inspector asks, you have the answer in writing.
Six-monthly compliance
Emergency & Exit Light Testing in Joondalup
Exit and emergency lighting has to be discharge-tested every six months. It is the compliance job that gets forgotten most often, because nothing looks wrong until the day it matters.
It also tends to get missed when a tenancy changes hands. Offices and suites around the Joondalup CBD and the Edgewater and Winton Road commercial pockets turn over regularly, and the six-monthly clock does not restart with the lease. A new tenant inherits fittings with no record of when they were last tested.
This is scheduled work rather than emergency work, so it books in during normal hours and does not need an after-hours contractor. Glen tests each fitting, records the result against it, and quotes any failures at a fixed price rather than replacing them on the spot and invoicing later.
Due, or not sure when it was last done?
A job we've done
Distillery Fit-Out, Clarkson
Not every commercial job is an office. Lizard Dragon Distillers in Clarkson needed process equipment wired, controlled and commissioned properly, which is closer to light-industrial work than general electrical.
What the job involved
- Six heating elements in the still pot, wired through a variable heating controller and switch
- Surface conduit runs back to the main switchboard
- Controls installed for the still pot agitator motor and wired back to the board
- Tested and commissioned before handover
What went into it
Heat controllers, direct-on-line starters, Clipsal RCDs, NHP isolators, solid-strand and flex cable, plus the conduit and fixings. Trade-grade components chosen for a working production environment rather than whatever was cheapest on the day.
Completed around two and a half years ago and still in service.
How It Works for Commercial Clients
-
Site walk or plans review
Glen visits the site or works from your drawings, scopes the job with you, and flags anything that will affect compliance or cost before it becomes a variation.
-
Fixed-price quote in writing
One itemised price for the agreed scope, with timing scheduled around your trading hours where the job allows.
-
Work done, records handed over
Work is completed, tested and certified, and you get the compliance paperwork with the invoice, not weeks later after three follow-up emails.
Commercial Electrical Questions, Answered
Do you handle small commercial jobs, or only full fit-outs?
Both. JEC takes on everything from a single failed circuit in a shopfront to the full electrical scope of an office fit-out. Small jobs are quoted at a fixed price the same way big ones are, and repeat commercial clients get priority scheduling.
How often does test and tag need to be done?
It depends on the environment. AS/NZS 3760 sets different in-service testing intervals for different workplace types; equipment on a construction site needs testing far more often than equipment in an office. Glen assesses your workplace and puts you on the correct interval, then books each round automatically so the schedule never lapses.
How often do emergency lights need testing in WA?
Emergency and exit lighting must be tested every six months under AS 2293.2, including a discharge test to confirm each fitting runs for the required duration on battery. JEC tests, records results per fitting, and quotes any failed fittings for repair at a fixed price.
Can you work outside our trading hours?
Where a job would disrupt trade, Glen schedules the disruptive stages for the quietest window the job allows, and tells you upfront how long power will be off.
Do you work with strata and property managers?
Yes. JEC quotes per work order, references your job numbers on invoices, and supplies compliance documentation with completed work. Standing maintenance arrangements are available for complexes that want faults handled on a schedule rather than as emergencies.
Are you licensed for commercial electrical work?
Yes. JEC is a licensed and insured WA electrical contractor (EC9674 · EW144799) covering commercial, light industrial and strata work across Joondalup and Perth's northern corridor.
