Electrician in Koondoola, Safe Boards, Sorted Paperwork

Koondoola's housing stock is largely from the 1970s, which puts many of its switchboards a generation behind current safety-switch standards. JEC checks what protection is actually there, then quotes one fixed price to bring it up to scratch.

1970s Boards, Current-Day Safety Rules

Koondoola was largely built out in the 1970s, and a good number of its homes still run electrical gear from that first build: original fuse boards, early switchgear and wiring that has been patched rather than replaced. None of that is unusual, and none of it is a reason to panic.

It is a reason to know where you stand. RCD safety switches, which cut power the instant a fault or shock is detected, only became standard long after these homes were wired, and WA law now requires at least two of them before any home is sold or newly leased. With a solid share of the suburb's homes rented, that compliance question comes up in Koondoola more often than most places. A short check answers it properly.

Landlords: One Visit, Both Boxes Ticked

RCDs and smoke alarms are the two compliance items that hold up a lease. JEC checks and certifies both in a single visit, tells you plainly if nothing is needed, and quotes one fixed price if something is. The paperwork goes to you or straight to your property manager.

Koondoola Electrical Questions

What does a Koondoola rental need before it can be leased?

WA's Electricity Regulations require at least two RCDs protecting all power and lighting circuits before a home is sold or newly leased, and compliant smoke alarms are required as well. Plenty of Koondoola's older boards were installed before either rule existed. JEC checks both in one visit and supplies the certification your property manager asks for.

Is an older fuse board dangerous to keep living with?

Not automatically, and the right response is a check, not alarm. An older board simply lacks the protection modern boards carry: RCDs cut power in milliseconds when a fault or shock is detected, and fuse wire cannot do that. A 20-minute assessment tells you honestly whether yours is fine for now or genuinely worth upgrading.

Does JEC travel to Koondoola, and when?

Yes, for quoted, scheduled work such as RCD compliance, smoke alarms and switchboard upgrades, with travel priced into the fixed quote. Urgent same-day callouts are focused closer to the Joondalup base. All work is during business hours, Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm.
