Electrician in Eglinton, New Board, Not a Blank Cheque

Eglinton homes are new, so the board is compliant. It is also close to full. JEC checks the capacity before you add the charger or the second aircon, then quotes one fixed price.

Premises Electrical Work in a Brand-New Suburb

First, what this page covers, because searching for an electrician in Eglinton returns a mix of trades: JEC is a licensed electrical contractor for property. Houses, sheds, units, shops and business premises. Not cars, caravans or trailers, which are a different trade.

Eglinton is one of the newest suburbs on this coast, roughly 45 kilometres north of the city, built almost entirely this century around the Amberton and Allara estates. The Eglinton train station opened off Pipidinny Road in July 2024 as part of the rail extension to Yanchep, and the suburb has been filling in quickly ever since.

That makes the electrical work here the opposite of what an older suburb generates. Nobody in Eglinton is dealing with ceramic fuses. What they are dealing with is capacity. A new home is wired for the plan that was signed, with a compliant board and the circuits that plan called for. Then the family moves in and starts adding: an EV charger for the commute, a second or third split system, alfresco power, a spa, a powered shed, sometimes solar and a battery. Each of those wants a way in the board, and there are only so many. Just south, Alkimos is a few years further into the same cycle, and further north Yanchep mixes it with genuinely old housing stock.

Check the Board Before You Order the Hardware

The most avoidable cost in a new-estate home is buying an EV charger or a second air conditioner, then finding the board has no way left for it. Have the capacity confirmed first. If the board needs work, it gets quoted alongside the install, so there is one decision and one fixed price.

Adding to a New Eglinton Home? Get the Capacity Confirmed

Tell Glen what you want to add and he will confirm what the board can carry before you commit to the hardware. If it needs work first, that is quoted at the same time, as one fixed price.

Eglinton Electrical Questions

Do you do auto electrical work in Eglinton?

No. JEC is a licensed electrical contractor for buildings: houses, units, sheds, shops and business premises. Vehicle, caravan, trailer and boat wiring is a separate trade and needs an auto electrician. If your search turned up workshops and mobile mechanics, this page is the other kind of electrician: the one who works on the property itself.

Our Eglinton home is only a few years old. Why would the switchboard matter?

Because a compliant board is not the same as a board with room to spare. New-estate homes are built to the standard and the load of the day, with the number of circuits the plan called for and not many more. An EV charger, an extra split system, a spa, a pool or a powered shed each need a way in the board and enough capacity behind it, and boards fill up much faster than owners expect.

The house is still within the builder warranty period. Do we call the builder or an electrician?

If something in the original installation has stopped working or was never right, go back to the builder first: that is what the warranty is for, and getting someone else involved can complicate it. Anything you are adding after handover is a separate job and does not sit with the builder at all. If you are not sure which category you are in, describe it to Glen and he will tell you straight.

Eglinton is a long way north. Does JEC come up here?

Yes, for quoted, scheduled work such as EV chargers, air conditioning, outdoor power and switchboard work, with travel priced into the fixed quote so nothing is added on the day. Urgent same-day callouts are focused closer to the Joondalup base. All work is during business hours, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm.
